Britian’s slump into autocracy has taken a major step today as calls for a child curfew go stronger, with a YouGov poll showing that “9/10 parents would back restrictions on their children going out after dark”. Is this really what the populace has been reduced to? Have people’s brains become so addled that authoritarianism is really the most desirable route? I mean, I’d say that those who voted yes should be forcably sterilised but it’s all a bit late for that…
If a bill such as this gets passed, I’m leaving the country. Not because I’m unpatriotic, quite the opposite. I couldn’t stand to see packs of policemen roaming our beautiful streets to round up neighbourhood kids who’ve dared to stay out a little later than the state demands. Furthermore, it will show an utter disrespect for the basic freedoms our nation has battled for countless times in the past.
